Unbeaten Teams Dominating Dubai Challenge Cup

The polo season in Dubai has reached an exciting stage as some of the very best teams in the UAE have been excelling at the Dubai Challenge Cup.

As Gulf Today reports, the UAE Polo and Battisoni Polo teams have extended their winning streaks in the competition, with the third day of the tournament seeing both sides winning in impressive style.

The Battisoni team began the day with a stunning 7-3 win over the Baylandi team, with Tomy Iriate scoring twice early on to give the side a star from which they never looked back.

Following this, the UAE Polo team took on the Bin Drai team in a thrilling match. UAE surged into an early 2-0 lead, including a penalty from team patron Sheikha Maitha Bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. However, Rashid Bin Drai struck twice for the team bearing his name to level the scores by half time.

The game then swung to and fro, with Khalid Bin Drai finally levelling the match in the final moments of the fourth chukker to make it 6-6. This led to a decisive fifth chukker in which the golden goal was scored for the UAE team by Jacinto Crotto.

For spectators present at the tournament, it was a thrilling encounter. For Polo lovers far away, it was a reminder that the sport still goes on despite the pandemic – and the British summer should bring some action here.

Now spring is upon us and summer is approaching, many players and off-field staff will be getting their equipment and horses ready and starting to train. Provided the data continues to head in all the right directions, the next step on the roadmap out of lockdown will be the return of organised team sports on March 29th.

Right now, the most excite g action is happening in Dubai. But before long, the golden goals could belong to a golden British summer for polo.
