If you’re ready to ditch the lockdown loungewear and head outside, then the Alzheimer’s Society is giving you a chance to get dressed to the nines for their ‘Afternoon at Beaufort’ polo day on Friday 16 July, in Tetbury, Gloucestershire.
Punchline Gloucester reports that the Alzheimer’s charity organisation has teamed up with England Polo stars Luke and Mark Tomlinson to provide an afternoon of top-class polo and fine dining at one of the oldest polo clubs in the country.
Luke Tomlinson, former England polo team captain, said: “We are delighted to be joining forces with Alzheimer’s Society once again to hold this fantastic event. Our family has direct experience of dementia after my mother Claire was diagnosed with a form called Pick’s disease in 2012.
He added that his mother’s diagnosis of the disease last the family ‘bowled over’, and that the Alzheimer’s Society is “a charity that is very close to our hearts and provides vital support to people with dementia and their families.”
“That’s why we are so proud to be holding this event in aid of the charity and its important work.”
The organisers of the event are hoping to raise £70,000 for the charity, to further its aim to provide information and support, funding for research, and campaigns to improve care to bring lasting change for people affected by the debilitating disease.
The Beaufort Polo Club, owned by the Tomlinson family, will greet guests with a sparkling drinks reception, a polo demonstration, and a delicious lunch before an action-packed game of polo in the most beautiful of locations.
Bringing the day to a gentle close will be a luxurious afternoon tea.
